How to Clean VELUX Blinds

27/11/2008

Because VELUX blinds are for roof windows they don’t get dirty very often, but in case for some reason they do, here is some advice for cleaning them.

VELUX Venetian Blinds

Our range of VELUX venetian blinds uses aluminium slats so cleaning them is as simple as wiping the slats with a cloth, alternatively you could use an ostrich feather duster for a more effective clean. Or if the blind is out of reach you could use a telescopic ostrich feather duster. These products are available from out blinds after care section.

If the dirt is stubborn you could use a warm damp cloth to wipe the slats, but do not use any cleaning chemicals as they could damage your blinds.

VELUX Blackout Blinds

All of the fabrics in our VELUX Blackout Blinds range are wipe clean. This means that you can easily wipe dust or dirt off the blind fabric without having to worry about spoiling it.

If the dust has just settled on the blind from lack of use you can simply wipe it off with a dry cloth or for a more effective clean use a feather duster. If the dirt is a bit more stubborn, you can use a warm damp cloth.

Other VELUX Blind Types

For all our other blind types we do not recommend you use a damp cloth as this could damage the fabric. The best approach is either a soft duster or an ostrich feather duster for maximum cleaning efficiency.
