National Homebuilding & Renovation Show - N.E.C. Birmingham, 22-25 March 2007

The UK's largest and most popular exhibition for self-builders and renovators.

The 2007 Show drew 46,564 visitors over 4 days to view exhibits in 4 Halls, so that meant that we, in the Move Or Improve section, may have been attended by around 10,000 visitors. Scary !

25% of the visitors were "Trade" and 50% of those were property developers or builders, with another 20% being architects and interior designers. Most of the remaining 30,000 were private individuals looking for solutions and inspiration.

In fact, after the gruelling but rewarding effort of actually getting everything set up, we were ready for the action!

We didn't have a huge stand, so we decided on promoting mainly System 41 retractable Fly Screens, and aluminium Chain Link door screens , custom-made parasols to suit almost any requirement and Louvolite's exciting new Perfect Fit Blinds system.

We were exhausted at the end of every 10 hour day, but the fun of meeting all those people was amazing. Doing an exhibition is like living in an alternative universe for 4 days, hearing and seeing almost nothing of the outside world.
Afterwards came the work of following up on all the leads we had taken over the 4 sessions.

So many people had been stopped in their tracks by seeing fly screens for the first time. They were amazed to have found the solution to their fears and phobias was actually on sale in the U.K.

Others had decided to fit free-hanging venetian blinds before seeing the wonderful Perfect Fit blinds system. Those without PVC windows were really disappointed, but those with, were thrilled to have a blind which wouldn't flap around when the window or door opened.

The Caravita parasols attracted a lot of attention because of the impending change in smoking indoors, and also from those self-builders who planned a Grand Designs type of home and had space for one on the rear terrace near the swimming pool in their dreams.

Visitors to our Stand were given a promotional ordering code to get extra discount from future purchase and even more than a year on, we are still seeing this code being used as the house developers and re-furbishers finally reach the finishing line and think about blinds, remember that they saw our fly screens, and contemplate long summer evenings on the terrace under a custom-designed parasol that is the envy of their friends. Sipping a drop of chilled something and remembering their trek around the 4 Halls of the National Homebuilding and Renovating Show 2007.

Thank goodness they found the Better Blind Company before their feet gave out !
