FAQ Panel Blinds - How wide will my panels be?

15/10/2008

People often call our office to ask what width the panels for our panel blinds are. Because our blinds are completely made to measure, we don't have standard panel widths - unlike the panel blinds you'll buy off the shelf in DIY and furniture stores.

Our panels are made to measure - and the width of the panels depends on 2 things:

(1) The width of the blind ordered and;

(2) The number of panels.

Here is a simple calculation to calculate approximate panel width, although if you are having trouble, then feel free to contact us!

1) Take the “Width of Blind” plus “50mm per overlapping panel”

2) Then divide by the “number of panels”.

Here is an example of the formula in action.

Let’s say you’d like to order a blind 2000mm wide with 5 panels. This would have 4 over laps....

1) 2000mm (width of blind) + 4 overlaps at 50mm each = 2200mm

2) Divided by 5 panels = 440mm

So, our panel width is 440mm each.

The calculation that we use in manufacturing has to be 100% accurate so it takes other variables into account including the size of the end caps on the head rail and whether your measurements are exact blind or recess size. Although, the formula above gives a really good approximation, to within 5mm.
