VELUX achieve this by implementing aluminium guide rails which sandwich the fabric and block out light from coming round the edge of the fabric.

In addition to completely blocking out light, blackout blinds also reflect excess heat from the sun back outside, which keeps the room cool. During the winter blackout blinds keep the heat in. VELUX make this possible by adding a coat of aluminium foil to the exterior fabric.

Blackout Blinds are ideal for children as they often need to go to sleep during light hours, especially in summer. With VELUX blackout blinds they won’t be able to tell if it’s light or dark outside.

Another advantage of VELUX blackout blinds for loft conversions is that they are also available with mains powered and solar powered operation with Battery operated remote controls. So no matter how inaccessible your windows are, you can close your blinds with just a click of a button.
